Meet the Friendly Faces of the New Mexico Lawyer Assistance Program
Pamela Moore, MA, LPCC, currently serves as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Director of the State Bar of New Mexico's Professional Programs Group where she educates the legal community on positive health and well-being and assists in providing resources and services to any legal professional struggling with mental, emotional or behavioral issues.
Tenessa Eakins is the Case Manager of the State Bar of New Mexico Lawyer Assistance Program, overseeing a 24-hour helpline and managing the NM LAP monitoring program. With a background as an EMT-B for San Diego's 911 services, she brings valuable experience to her role. Ms. Eakins is dedicated to promoting positive health and well-being within the legal community through educational initiatives.

The Young Lawyers Division Needs Volunteers for Ask-a-Lawyer Call-in Day on May 4
Once a year, New Mexico residents can get their legal questions answered free or receive brief legal advice through the Ask-a-Lawyer Call-in Program sponsored by the YLD. The YLD is recruiting volunteer attorneys virtually and in-person to answer questions from across the state on a variety of topics including: employment law, divorce, child support, landlord/tenant issues, personal injury, estate planning, real estate and more. This year’s program will take place from 9 a.m. to noon (MT) on May 4. Please send any questions regarding this event to memberservices@sbnm.org.

2024-25 ATJ Fund Grant Cycle Now Accepting Applications
The State Bar of New Mexico ATJ Fund Grant Commission solicits grant applications from qualified civil legal service providers for the provision of civil legal services to low-income New Mexicans.

The Henrietta Pettijohn Award honors an attorney who, over the years, has been a trailblazer or made a significant impact in empowering women in the legal profession.
The Rising Star Award recognizes a lawyer out of law school five years or less and is doing exemplary work in the community while bravely reaching outside their comfort zone in a legal or personal sense to try to make a difference in our profession.

Self-Study Rule 18-204(c) NMRA
Beginning in compliance year 2024, attorneys can earn all 12 required credits using a self-study format. These courses, however, must be pre-approved by the State Bar of New Mexico. Due to this requirement, course providers must report these credits for you. This means, attorneys can no longer self-report self-study credits. Visit www.sbnm.org/mcle for more information.

Those seeking assistance through the NM LAP program will be connected with our staff, who will furnish them with contact details of a judge or lawyer from the LAP Committee who has encountered similar challenges. These individuals act as peer volunteers, offering support and guidance. The decision to reach out to these peers for assistance rests with the individual seeking support.

Judicial Wellness Program (NMJWP)
Did you know …. JWELL offers professional developments tools for Judges including Judicial Roundtables. The roundtables are a coach facilitated meeting with Judges statewide that gives the judges an ability to discuss what is going on in their jurisdiction and the various stressors they experience in their job. We have found that isolation is one of the top stressors for judicial officers since the pandemic and this platform has been successful in building relationships and providing support.
