Wednesday, October 10th from 6-8:30 p.m., Volunteer Alexandria celebrates the spirit of volunteerism and recognizes people who give freely of their time and talents to make a stronger community. Register today!
Award recipients are: Jim Durham, Jane Powell, Odalis del Cid Reyes, Celia Boertlein and Marjorie Windelberg. More details on the 2018 award recipients can be found online .
At the event, you can bid on an experience, which includes: plane ride, lunches with City officials, restaurants, clubs, adventures, trips, and much more. Enjoy beer/wine while listening to live music by Ricardo Abbott and food from Taverna Cretekou, Dishes of India, Pork Barrel BBQ, Tempo Restaurant, and Harris Teeter, all topped off with Alexandria Cupcake’s red velvet cupcakes. This is event is supported by:

Join the VolAlex Brew Crew on Saturday, October 27 from 11:30 a.m. -3:00 p.m. for our inaugural outing! Brew Crew members will prepare a hot lunch for those in need and clean up around the lunch room, then gather at a local restaurant to enjoy food and drinks after to share stories.
Halloween Party at Ivy Hill Cemetery
No speeches or program JUST FUN! Join us for some cool air at the cemetery's vault, best costume award, a tour, live music, readings, food, beer & wine, and networking opportunity.

While we prefer that everyone comes in a costume and we will vote on the best ones, you don't have to dress up.

Family & Youth Volunteering
Save the Dates:
Kick off the holiday season by volunteering with your family! Family Volunteer Day: November 17th.

Prepare toys for distribution to families who need it most, spread the holiday spirit! Volunteer Alexandria & Fund for Alexandria's Child annual Toy Drive & Distribution: December 14th & 15th.
Emergency Preparedness
Once again, Volunteer Alexandria launches our Snow Buddies program with the support of the City of Alexandria and Senior Services of Alexandria. The program supports those who are unable to shovel their own sidewalks and need assistance from others. If you need assistance this winter, please complete and submit the online form . If you would like to volunteer to help others, please sign up online .

On October 18 th the Great Shake Out Drill asks are we ready if an earthquake strikes today? Although Alexandria is not frequently affected by earthquakes, we cannot forget the 2011 earthquake that shook Alexandria and the region. Register online to participate with this year’s drill.

Halloween is around the corner! Stay safe. Check out a few tips to keep those young and young at heart safe while out and about on All Hallows' Eve!
