The Immigrant Learning Center Public Education Institute 5-12-2021
Meet the heroes helping us get through the pandemic!
On April 6, The Immigrant Learning Center honored the immigrant heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic at our Immigrant Heroes Award Benefit. If you didn't have a chance to attend, this is your chance to hear their incredible stories! You can also watch a video of the full event here.
Monique Nguyen

When Vietnamese-Canadian-American immigrant Monique Nguyen saw undocumented immigrants getting left out of federal relief, she knew she had to help. Monique co-founded the MassUndocuFund and dispersed over $1.5 million to undocumented residents across Massachusetts to help them survive the pandemic.
Abdulkader Hayani

When Syrian refugee Abdulkader Hayani was laid off at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, his first thought was to help others. As a tailor, Abdulkader was well-prepared to enlist his family to sew thousands of masks and distribute them for free to frontline workers.
Niall Lennon

Through his work at the Broad Institute, Irish immigrant and scientist Niall Lennon has helped facilitate more than 15 million COVID-19 tests across New England. When the COVID-19 pandemic strained the medical system's testing capacity, his team leapt into action in high-risk hotspots.
The Immigrant Learning Center's Students

The ILC is proud of our immigrant essential worker students, including students who work in health care, food service, custodial services and more. Listen to The ILC teachers describe how their students kept their communities healthy, fed and safe.
