Los Angeles, California, April 17, 2019
– Dr. Yasmin Davidds, the founder of the Multicultural Women Executive Leadership Program (MWELP), is proud to introduce the program’s 2019 cohort. This year’s program consists of 31 fellows, including
15 experienced executives, 1
1 successful entrepreneurs and 5 talented millennials. The diverse base of women represent over 18 countries, and more than a quarter of the cohort population are immigrants from around the world.
“We have a group of phenomenal women from diversified backgrounds. This unique setting brings together powerful women from a variety of countries, with expertise in a multitude of business sectors,” said Davidds. “This cohort hosts attorneys, nonprofit executives, politicians, engineers, government executives, real estate developers, financial institution executives…and they’re all learning with each other, and from each other, on this journey.”
The 2019 MWELP began in March with a three-day intensive leadership session launch, which took place on the University of Southern California campus. The six-month program will continue through August with monthly weekend leadership sessions at USC, and weekly team video conference calls. Each month, assessments are provided to track progress and the development of each woman’s strengths. The program culminates with a graduation gala in September.
Dr. Davidds, who also founded the Women’s Negotiation and Leadership Program at UCSD’s Rady School of Management, offered in the spring and fall semesters, shared, “MWELP offers more than leadership training. We build a community – a sisterhood – of inspiring women who bring the best out of one another by bringing the best of themselves. It is extremely fulfilling to witness the tremendous growth that occurs throughout their six-month journey.”
MWELP is in the process of developing additional programming to complement the current available curriculum.
“Our current courses provide our fellows with incredible opportunities to develop their leadership skills, and create a network of women who share a special bond. Additional programs will build upon that, so our graduates can delve deeper into life-changing content, all while shooting for beyond that glass ceiling,” noted Dr. Davidds.
