Against Great Odds
in Haiti

Haiti was blasted this year with an earthquake, followed by a hurricane, all occurring in the midst of Covid 19 and great pollical strife. Yet, we see joy and the love of God in the faces of these Marianist Laity and Faustinos. They are celebrating the CLM Founder’s Day on January 16, 2022 outside of St. Mark church in the city of Saint Marc on the island of Haiti. Saul Damestoir, National Responsible for Haiti, continues to build a thriving Marianist and Faustina presence amid great odds. This community is the only branch of the Marianist Family left on the island. Their mission is to form and inspire youth groups and they are very creative in finding ways to attract youth to the church through interesting church and service activities.

Este año, Haití ha sufrido un terremoto, seguido de un huracán, todo ello en medio de grandes conflictos políticos. Sin embargo, vemos la alegría y el amor de Dios en los rostros de estos laicos y faustinos marianistas. Ellos están celebrando el Día del Fundador del MVC el 16 de enero de 2022 fuera de la iglesia de San Marcos en la ciudad de Saint Marc en la isla de Haití. Saul Damestoir, responsable nacional de Haití, sigue construyendo una próspera presencia marianista y faustina en medio de grandes dificultades. Esta comunidad es la única rama de la Familia Marianista que queda en la isla. Su misión es formar e inspirar a los grupos de jóvenes y son muy creativos a la hora de encontrar formas de atraer a los jóvenes a la iglesia mediante interesantes actividades eclesiásticas y de servicio. |

Cette année, Haïti a été frappé par un tremblement de terre, suivi d'un ouragan, le tout au milieu d'un grand conflit politique. Pourtant, nous voyons la joie et l'amour de Dieu dans les visages de ces Laïcs et Faustinos Marianistes. Ils célèbrent la journée du fondateur de la CLM le 16 janvier 2022 devant l'église Saint-Marc dans la ville de Saint-Marc sur l'île d'Haïti. Saul Damestoir, responsable national pour Haïti, continue à construire une présence marianiste et faustine florissante malgré les difficultés. Cette communauté est la seule branche de la famille marianiste qui reste sur l'île. Leur mission est de former et d'inspirer des groupes de jeunes et ils sont très créatifs pour trouver des moyens d'attirer les jeunes à l'église par des activités intéressantes d'église et de
service.

Su nombre es Santo y su misericordia llega a sus fieles de generación en generación.
