My name is Officer Cameron Herrera, and I am honored and excited to introduce myself as your new School Resource Officer (SRO), serving the Carbondale Roaring Fork Schools.
I have been a Patrol Officer with the Carbondale Police Department for over six years. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to serve our community in many ways—from helping people through difficult situations and responding when they need assistance, providing resources, and working to keep our community safe. I am fortunate to work and build positive relationships with the people I work with.
As your SRO, my role is much more than being a Police Officer on school grounds. I’m here as a resource for students, staff, and families – to listen, answer questions, provide support and help create a safe and welcoming school environment.
My goal is to be familiar, approachable, and trusted presence that students, staff, and parents feel comfortable reaching out to. My mission is to keep schools safe, build trust within the school community, and create an environment where everyone feels supported, respected, and has the opportunity to learn and grow.
Outside of work, I’m a husband and a proud father of four children, ages 20, 18, 2 and 1. My family means the world to me, and I enjoy spending as much time with them as possible. As family we love being outdoors, fishing, camping, watching movies and making memories.
I look forward to meeting and learning about everyone and becoming part of your school community. If you see me around campus, please don’t hesitate to come and say hello. I’d love to meet you.
