Meet the Research Teams:
University of Virginia
" The focus of our project is to really understand the experiences children are having in classrooms, all the way from pre-K to third grade, and the ways in which those experiences connect to their learning."

– Robert Pianta, University of Virginia
University of Virginia's research studies are taking place in Fairfax County Public Schools in northern Virginia.

Policy and Practice Study:
Researchers will conduct a descriptive analysis of systems-level policies and practices that support early learning, including interviews, focus groups and document reviews.

Classroom Observation Study:
Researchers will identify malleable factors that are associated with prekindergarten through Grade 3 school readiness and achievement by observing teacher-child interactions, class time and content instruction.

Longitudinal Study:
Researchers will study malleable factors associated with early learning and school achievement by following a group of children longitudinally from pre-K through Grade 3.
