Dear St. Francis Family,

I have exciting news for the parish!
The Reverend Jerry Sather will be joining us as our Interim Pastor on March 16. Jerry+ will be ministering to us by leading services along with our beloved Jude+, providing pastoral care, and bringing his experience to us in serving as strong support and guidance as we search for a new rector. Jerry was hand selected by Bishop John Taylor, who felt that he was a great fit for our needs and the Vestry is so very pleased that we have such a broadly qualified priest who will be with us on our transition journey.
Jerry+ comes to us after many years in military chaplaincy with the Unites States Air Force and has strong and varied experience in leadership, preaching, and pastoral care. His career has spanned the globe and he is bringing a wealth of knowledge to us.
Jerry lives in Orange County and has been married to his lovely wife Annette for 38 years. Click here to read an in-depth profile of our fantastic new interim pastor.

As our interim Jerry+ will lead and guide us but, per diocesan rules, is not eligible to be called as our new rector. He will minister to us with the special skills of interim clergy, which he has a strong calling to.
I encourage all our parish groups and guilds to invite Jerry+ to your zoom meetings so you can get to know him first-hand. He is excited to meet the church family and be of service to us all.
Welcome Rev. Jerry and Annette to the parish!

Message from Jude+

First things first! Welcome to Jerry+ and Annette! We are all so eager to get to know you and for you to get to know us and for all of us to take the next steps forward together. How wonderful it is that the Holy Spirit has moved to bring you here to walk with us through Holy Week and the Resurrection into New Life. Blessings and welcome!

Speaking of Holy Week, our plans are still being finalized, but I am hoping you will mark your calendars for something new!! On Maundy Thursday, April 1st at 7:00 pm, we will come together on zoom to share an agape meal and service, where we will bless the food we have prepared, including bread and wine or other beverage. On Zoom, some of us will be solo and some of us with family and friends with whom we can safely gather. BUT we will see each other, bless our food together, eat and drink together, and pray together in remembrance of Jesus’ last supper with his disciples. It begins the Triduum, the three Holy days of Easter.

Following our livestreamed Palm Sunday service on March 28, and after the coffee hour, we will be handing out Holy Week packets at the drive-through communion that will contain palm crosses, a recipe for a simple Mediterranean meal should you choose to make it, and the leaflet that contains the Maundy Thursday Service, as well as other information for Holy Week. I hope you will make plans to join us for our agape meal service: Thursday, April 1, at 7:00 pm. More information and the Zoom link will be available next week.

Again, welcome to our new interim Jerry+ and Annettee!!

Can you Donate Men's Pants?
Matthias Lee (son of long term St. Francis family), is asking:
St. Luke's needs men's pants: blue jeans, casual pants like dockers, and sweatpants. Smaller sizes (28, 30, 32, 34, 36) are especially needed, along with socks and underwear. Everything must be clean and cannot have holes or be torn. Mattias can do contactless pick up donations at donors' doorsteps the week of March 15-19 between 3-4 pm. Click here to email him.
Thank you!
PS - unfortunately the Blue Bin is still not re-opened, so please don't bring items there.
