Dr Pierre Viviers is a SASMA accredited Sports Physician and currently holds the position of Senior Director at Stellenbosch University. He is a Research Associate of the Faculty of Science, in the Centre for Human Performance Sciences. He completed a BMedSc; HonsBMedSc, MMedSc and MBChB at the University of the Free State and hold an MSc Sports Medicine degree from University of Pretoria.
He is currently chairman and executive committee member of the Exercise is Medicine South Africa National Council; and a member of the Medical and Scientific Committee of the South African Rugby Union and the SARU Concussion Discussion Group. He is an active member of SASMA and the American College of Sports Medicine. As rugby team physician he served in senior provincial, various national and international teams. He acted as medical director for various national rugby tournaments and served in the same position during the IRB U/20 World Championship 2012; held in South Africa. Read more...
