What's Happening at CUNY

image

You might have stumbled across some of the posters from our new winter campaign, which spotlights CUNY students earning “Degrees Without the Debt.” Now, meet some of the real CUNY students who joined us to tell the world about our University’s unparalleled strengths.

Recent CUNY grads are being hired and trained to provide full-time college and career advising at city public schools.

One college ranked FIRST in the nation, beating out leading institutions like Princeton, MIT, Stanford, Harvard and Yale!

CUNY is helping more students enroll in college through its peer-counseling program with the NYC Public Schools — the largest of its kind in the nation.

Students from any background can apply to LifeSci NYC, a program that trains undergrad and grad students to get the support they need to land quality internships.

💘 Love is in the air next week and we want to hear your story! If you have a special CUNY love story, submit it here.

This legendary activist and CUNY alum is about to be the new face of a quarter in 2024.

CUNY Callouts

Zaire Ali, CUNY SPH ’26, is a first-gen college student working to make the world a better place. During his sophomore year of college, he endured the loss of his mother, who was his main support system. Now a Ph.D. student, Zaire is working to understand why some people, like his mother, die early due to comorbidities and preventable chronic diseases. Zaire fiercely advocates for students at his school and across CUNY as the vice president of the SPH Graduate Student Association and vice chair of the University Student Senate Disability Affairs Committee.

Zaire’s Advice: “Never accept the word ‘no,’ especially when you are standing up to wrongdoing and oppression and are on the way to uncovering your purpose! We as students have an immense amount of power when we unite. CUNY has over 200,000 diverse students, so go out and find YOUR people and build a commUNITY!”
