Zaire Ali, CUNY SPH ’26, is a first-gen college student working to make the world a better place. During his sophomore year of college, he endured the loss of his mother, who was his main support system. Now a Ph.D. student, Zaire is working to understand why some people, like his mother, die early due to comorbidities and preventable chronic diseases. Zaire fiercely advocates for students at his school and across CUNY as the vice president of the SPH Graduate Student Association and vice chair of the University Student Senate Disability Affairs Committee. |
Zaire’s Advice: “Never accept the word ‘no,’ especially when you are standing up to wrongdoing and oppression and are on the way to uncovering your purpose! We as students have an immense amount of power when we unite. CUNY has over 200,000 diverse students, so go out and find YOUR people and build a commUNITY!”
