Girls Inc. c oronavirus (COVID - 19) Update
Girls Inc. is carefully monitoring CDC, state and City of Philadelphia guidance. We have adopted recommended protocols and developed an emergency operation plan to address current and potential future challenges. Programs in Philadelphia have been paused as a result of the Philadelphia School District closing all schools until March 27 th . All staff will work remotely during this period on lesson plans, evaluations and training. The safety of our staff and the girls we serve will be the priority in determining when to resume programming.
Program Spotlight: Bold Futures
Our volunteer mentors spent a recent Saturday at Juniata Park Academy teaching girls about the science behind lip gloss! In this program, girls spend at least 100 hours throughout the year learning from professional mentors and participating in activities built around STEM, leadership development, and personal safety. Subaru of America, Inc. is being honored at the Philadelphia Business Journal's 2020 Faces of Philanthropy Awards for their work in support of Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. With the support of Subaru , Girls Inc. launched programming in Camden, New Jersey in 2018. Their continued support has enabled us to expand our reach in Camden. We currently deliver our signature programs, professional mentoring and career exploration opportunities to nearly 400 girls in Camden.

Subaru is more than a financial supporter. Subaru employees have volunteered for our Early Grade Literacy program, hosted a read-a-thon, and facilitated a career exploration day. We are proud to partner with Subaru to provide educational support and life skills experiences for girls in the Camden area.
