KPhA Welcomes new Executive Director Mark Glasper
Greetings KPhA Members!
I truly appreciate the confidence your Board of Directors has in my abilities as your new Executive Director. I was impressed with the entire search process led by KPhA President and Chair of the Search Committee Trish Freeman. She, members of the Search Committee and your Board of Directors led an effective and efficient executive search which typically demands expertise and expensive support from outside counsel.
As your new Executive Director, I have much that I want to accomplish:
- Growing the Association;
- Improving member satisfaction;
- Raising awareness of the Association and the profession.
My experience in these areas translates into immediate value for KPhA because I've accomplished these goals at other associations. Please know that I will be a respectful steward of your association, thinking strategically, working collaboratively and managing professionally.
I look forward to working with your Board of Directors on behalf of the entire KPhA membership as we implement our Strategic Plan.
Please look for me at the Annual Meeting and Convention and other meetings during the upcoming year. And, you're always welcome to visit KPhA headquarters. My door is always open, so please know that you can contact me anytime with your questions, comments or concerns. I look forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Mark Glasper

The Kentucky Pharmacists Association and its partner in the Patient Access to Pharmacists' Care Coalition (PAPCC) - applauds the introduction of legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize the role that pharmacists can, and do, play in addressing patient access-to-care issues in medically underserved communities throughout the nation.

Office of Drug Control Policy launches online naloxone registry
The Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy (KY-ODCP), in conjunction with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy, the Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Policy (KY-ASAP), and the Advancing Pharmacy Practice in Kentucky Coalition (APPKC) has published an online registry at the website KyStopOverdoses.ky.gov.
The website includes a searchable registry that allows people to locate pharmacies that carry naloxone by city, county or zip code. It also contains information on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose and other valuable resources for the public.
The APPKC has been working to identify pharmacies whose pharmacists have been certified to dispense naloxone, and who have put in place a physician-approved protocol to dispense naloxone, to include in the registry.

FREE DSCSA Compliance Pocket Guide
The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) is a new law that is now being actively enforced by the FDA. It requires the
implementation of specific steps designed to build an electronic, interoperable system to identify and trace certain prescription drugs as they are distributed in the United States. This is a complex law and brings significant change to the way most pharmacies must track and trace their products. As of March 1, 2016, initial traceability requirements are in place and being enforced. By 2026, the system will facilitate the exchange of
information at the individual package level about where a drug has been in the supply chain. This impacts all dispensers of pharmaceutical products.
Want to learn more about DSCSA?
InfiniTrak, a cost-effective software solution
providing full DSCSA compliance, is offering a FREE quick and easy pocket guide
