Rotary Club of Detroit in the News

December 15, 2024

Our friend Trey Greene's club, the Rotary Club of Detroit, was recognized in this past Sunday's Detroit Free Press.

The Detroit Rotary Club's president, Renee Yancy, was featured in a full-page article highlighting the numerous good works of the club.

Detroit Rotary was chartered 110 years ago. Of the more than 46,000 clubs worldwide, Detroit Rotary is #16.

Renee and Trey's club were major sponsors of the driving range at our District Governor's Golf Outing in September and their club sent a team of golfers as well.

Car Seats For AAA Pregnancy Resource Center

December 11, 2024

Our club recently raised $4,000 toward the goal of purchasing 85 car seats for the AAA Pregnancy Resource Center in Livonia. Our fundraising goal was achieved with the assistance of a Rotary matching grant and the help of Denise Ford, manager of the Livonia Walmart. Denise arranged a Walmart contribution of $1,015 to help us reach our goal of purchasing the 85 car seats.

A fantastic morning with the Livonia AM Rotary thanks to Santa Claude! We picked up 95 new car seats from our friends at the 7 Mile Walmart and delivered them to the AAA Pregnancy Resource Center!  Great job team!

Club members Nancy Darga, Pat Zucal, Erin Dobbins, Steve Alexander, Bob Carris, and Santa Claude Kendrick pitched in to deliver the 85 car seats to AAAPRC storage.

Fred Wood Funeral Home in Livonia graciously allowed AAPRC to store the bulking items in their facility to be drawn on as needed.

Deck The Rec Christmas Tree Decorating "Contest"

There are 11 trees on display, and the public will vote for their favorite tree.
