The Coordinating Team has called a
Special Meeting of the Presbytery of Tampa Bay
for 8:30 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021, using Zoom.

  • Welcome letter with additional details
  • Docket
  • Committee on Nominations and Representation report with nominees for several positions
  • Coordinating Team report with recommended amendments to the bylaws
  • Additional Info for First-Time Commissioners and Guests (including Special Rules of Order for Zoom Meetings, Additional Tech Guidance for Electronic Meetings, and Zoom "Expertise" tips for PTB Zoom meetings)

If you are a minister member of PTB or already know you'll be a ruling elder commissioner, please register in Zoom now by clicking here.

Please check the 2021 Presbytery of Tampa Bay Plan for Parity of Ministers of Word and Sacrament and Ruling Elder Commissioners to ensure your session sends the right number of ruling elder commissioners.
If you are a pastor/moderator or clerk of session and have not already reported your ruling elder commissioner(s) to us, please email their contact info to office@pbty.com as soon as possible.

Please forward this email to your elected ruling elder commissioner(s) to the February 26 Special meeting!
As I wrote to all minister members and clerks of sessions of the Presbytery on Friday, February 12 (in giving the required ten days' notice required for a special meeting), the Coordinating Team (CT) has scheduled a Special Meeting of the Presbytery to be held on Zoom on Friday, February 26th at 8:30 a.m. for the following purposes:
  • Considering amendments to PTB bylaws establishing the Associate Presbyter for Emerging Ministries as a part of Presbytery Leadership, amending the language for terms of office for the Coach & Coordinator, Stated Clerk, and Treasurer, and adding permission to suspend the requirement for a written ballot for each of these positions if there is only one candidate,
  • re-electing the treasurer for the Presbytery of Tampa Bay, and
  • electing a new vice-moderator to fill the unexpired term left vacant by the resignation of Ruling Elder Sally Speer and fill other vacancies as needed.

Zoom is both our platform and "host church" for this meeting:

  • The online meeting "room" will open for sign-in no later than 8:00 a.m. so participants can connect (and troubleshoot if needed) before the Presbytery meeting starts.

  • The online meeting will start promptly at 8:30 a.m.

To maintain the integrity of the meeting while also conducting an open meeting, we'll limit participation in the Zoom meeting environment to those with the privilege of the floor.

  • If you have any questions about who should and shouldn't register for the Zoom meeting, please reach out to me ASAP.

Check out important information about online orientation on Monday (2/22) afternoon and evening and how we use Zoom on our recently updated Orientation/Refresher for First Time Commissioners and anyone new to Zoom for a Presbytery meeting webpage at https://presbyteryoftampabay.com/orientation/.

As I get ready to hit "send" on this update, we still need to register more ruling elder commissioners from congregations.

  • If you are a pastor/moderator or clerk of session and have not already reported your ruling elder commissioner(s) to us at office@pbty.com, please get us their contact info as soon as possible.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions!
