We Must Meet The Challenge of 2017
The new year presents serious challenges for those of us who
want to preserve a livable planet for future generations.
We cannot become discouraged! Too much is at stake!
Elders Climate Action exists to bring our elder voices together to demand action to
protect our grandchildren from the potentially catastrophic consequences of climate change.
W
e need all of us to step up our contributions to the effort.
Please ask yourself -
what more can you contribute to the effort this year?
Here are some of the ways that you can raise your voice and make a real difference i
n 2017:
- Join one of our Strategy Teams developing our action plans for 2017 and beyond.
- Make a pledge of financial support for ECA for 2017.
- Form a local ECA Climate Action Team to work on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in your community. Just two or three people can get this started.
- Take the Elder Climate Voters Pledge, and get others to join you in that.
- Participate in Elders Climate Action Day in Washington, DC on May 1st and 2nd.
- Participate in our Monthly Elders Climate Action Alert - taking a simple but important action like sending a message to a public official.
If you are willing to work to protect future generations in just one of those ways, please send an email to
pauls@eldersclimateaction.org.
Your participation matters!
For the grandchildren and all life,

ELDERS CLIMATE ACTION DAY
MAY 1 & 2, 2017
IN WASHINGTON DC
Elders Climate Action Day in Washington, DC
More Important than Ever!
The recent election does not need to dash our hopes. Instead, it is an invitation to build a national movement to address Global Warming. We, as elders, have a vital role in the success of that movement.
None of us needs to be an expert on Climate Change to make a difference; we just need to demonstrate our determination and commitment to our children, grandchildren and continued life on planet Earth. We are the elders, we have patience, passion, and wisdom and we care deeply about future generations.
This year our Elders Climate Action Day will be the formal kickoff for a series of events around the country. We hope to have community events in a location near you beginning in the summer of 2017.
JOIN US IN MAY AND BE A PART OF THE MOVEMENT THAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN CLIMATE CHANGE!

Sowing a Culture of Peace with the Elders Climate Network
In this holiday season, when people sing of Peace On Earth, I'm inviting my own family -- and yours -- to tell what this statement means to them.
Recognize that peace is the wholeness crea
ted by right relationships with oneself, other persons, o
ther cultures, other life, Earth, and the larger whole of which all are a part.
I want my six grandchildren to know why I care so passionately about the condition our planet is in. I need for them to know that I believe that we can change climate change. I'm telling them about significant moments in my own journey. And I want them to consider their own part in the unfolding saga of how the human family learned to live together in a culture of peace.
I would love to hear from members of Elders Climate Action. Your family's climate conversation is a gift to the Earth, Our Home.
Together, we are Sowing a Culture of Peace, with the Earth Charter as a guide.
Sue Blythe, creator of the FutureFlash! Project, lives at the Sustainable Living Center of the Florida Coalition for Peace and Justice in Hampton, FL. For information about Sowing a Culture of Peace and the FutureFlash! Climate Challenge, contact Sue Blythe.
As Elder activists, we depend on one another to keep us inspired and involved. Let us know why you care about climate change.
