Fellow Kansan,
I am back in Washington, DC for a full week of legislative activity and committee work. If you would like more information on what I am working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media.
I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come.
Yours in service,

This week, the House is back in session and focused on strengthening American energy production, supporting rural communities, and rolling back burdensome regulations that have held back innovation and growth.
We’ll be voting on a series of bills to unleash American energy dominance and responsibly manage our natural resources. These efforts are about ensuring reliable, affordable energy for families and businesses while supporting the producers who power our economy. We’ll consider legislation to repeal Biden-era overregulations that have slowed infrastructure development and hurt American competitiveness, including measures like the Reliable Federal Infrastructure Act to get projects moving again.
The House will also vote on the Improving Care in Rural America Reauthorization Act, which provides critical support for rural health care providers. This legislation helps expand access to care, strengthen local health networks, and ensure providers in rural areas like the Big First have the tools they need to serve their communities.
Finally, it is great to have the Western Kansas Chambers of Commerce in town to discuss the state of the Big First economy and take a closer look at the industries that are driving growth across our region. I will be meeting with each of the Chambers throughout the week to hear their priorities, learn more about the challenges local businesses are facing, and continue working together to support job creation and long-term economic success across our state.

| Last week, the House passed the ALERT Act, the most comprehensive aviation safety legislation in years, with strong bipartisan support. As a cosponsor, I was proud to help advance this bill, which delivers meaningful reforms to strengthen our aviation system, improve accountability, and ensure safety remains the top priority in our skies. For Kansans, this effort is deeply personal. We will never forget the tragedy of Flight 5342 out of Wichita or the lives lost, and we owe it to those families to take real action. The ALERT Act implements all 50 NTSB recommendations and makes lasting improvements to training, technology, and coordination to help prevent future tragedies. I look forward to swift action and coming together with my Senate colleagues to pass this bipartisan, bicameral legislation for the safety of our skies. | | I had the opportunity to honor Chief Judge Eric Melgren for his distinguished service on the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. After nearly two decades on the federal bench, including his time as Chief Judge, Judge Melgren has upheld the rule of law with integrity and a deep respect for the Constitution. Raised on a cattle and wheat farm in southwest Kansas, his career reflects the values of hard work, service, and leadership that define our state. I am grateful for his continued service as he assumes senior status and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition. | | I had a full week of meetings in my Washington office last week with folks working in agriculture, health care, education, energy, and small business, all committed to keeping our Kansas economy strong. These conversations are a good reminder of the leadership and hard work happening every day in the Big First. Hearing directly from the people working on the ground helps me stay focused on the issues that matter most to Kansans.
