As many as three TPD officers usually attend the Quarterly Safety Meetings. If you have a safety question, these meetings allow you to speak with officers assigned to our area. 


With the new variants of Covid, masks are highly encouraged, but not mandatory. AZ is experiencing an uptick in Covid and flu cases.

Helicopter Follow-up Meeting Jan 30, 3PM

Want more information about the helicopter flights going to and from Banner? Think some are flying over your house? Come and learn about the new software that tracks flights and the reports that will be generated for Jefferson Park.

FROM THE FOLKS AT BANNER: "Greetings, This meeting is in person and to commence at 3:00PM and end at 4:00PM and will be held in the Duval Auditorium located at Banner University Medical Center, 1625 N. Campbell Avenue. NOTE:  please park at the front of the main hospital new tower (NORTH SIDE), check in at Tower 1 and proceed to the Duval Auditorium, Tower 4, Floor 2. All in-person attendees are required to wear a mask and observe social distancing. "

Traffic Mitigation Update

SPEED HUMPS BY SCHOOL - The JPNA board agreed to fund one of the International School's speed humps from the Park Tucson monies allocated to Jefferson Park for traffic concerns. This project is moving forward-currently getting bids for the humps.

TWO SPEED TABLES ON MOUNTAIN - The JPNA board agreed to work towards two speed tables on Mountain. Signatures required from adjacent residents.

SPEED HUMP ON SENECA NEAR TYNDALL - JPNA approved and petitions will be circulated.

Now it is up to the residents - If you live nearby, a volunteer may seek your signature. 60% of residents need to sign to approve.

Speed Study Requested - At the request of Jefferson Park, WARD III asked for a speed study of Mountain. Mountain Ave north of Ft. Lowell has a speed limit of 25, but south of Grant reads 30 mph. 

How many accidents are too many?

(from SAMOS) "a report on traffic incidents for the past 5 years from TDOT.... This covers Mountain Ave from Limberlost to Speedway. In those 5 years there were 38 incidents involving pedestrians and/or bicyclists and none were fatal. 3 were incapacitating but not life threatening. 22 were not incapacitating. Over the 5 years there were a total of 560 incidents of which only 4 were exceeding the speed limit and 36 who were going too fast for conditions." You decide

Campus Community Relations Committee - CCRC

Would you like to hear the projects and concerns of nearby neighborhoods? CCRC has monthly zoom meetings on Tuesdays at 6. UA reps, Ward reps, Banner reps and neighborhood reps attend and talk about common issues. It is very interesting to hear what adjacent neighborhoods are doing. All are welcome. You will need to send a group e-mail to Julie Katsel (UA Director Communications) - jkatsel@email.arizona.edu, Nick (UofA assistant director) hilton@arizona.edu and Alice (Blenman) alice@roemail.net and ask to be added to the list serve to receive the monthly zoom links. Each neighborhood has an assigned representative, but all can ask questions/comment. Alice Roe of Blenman-Elm is the moderator.

Edison/Campbell Street Parklet

Every 3rd Saturday of the month at 8:00 am, at the end of Edison at Campbell Avenue, neighbors do a quick cleanup in the parklet. It's fast with neighbors helping. 

Just show up, all garbage bags and tools are supplied. You are always welcome to go when it suits your schedule. If you do pick up trash during another time, please contact Joanne Osuna at cricket16@cox.net 

and your time will count. 

We report our hours to Tucson Clean & Beautiful as part of the Adopt-a-Park Program.

NOTE FOR THE CAMPBELL ACCESS ROAD: Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) who is in charge of the landscape along the access road has been contacted by JPNA and Ward III, for the need of a clean up of weeds, pruning, and irrigation problems. They are having staffing problems but say we are on their schedule. Meanwhile, many thanks to the neighbors who take a walk or stop their cars and pick up trash.

HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT REPORTING TOOL

If you see an encampment in the neighborhood, submit an On-Line Report. You will fill out a report. Reporting tool  or call (520) 791-2540

The address will be sent to the outreach team at the Housing and Community Development (HCD) department. Cleanup is determined by City department ownership or oversight responsibility of property in question. Cleanup will take place 72 hours after notification and posting. The City is making efforts to assist unsheltered individuals with support services and housing when feasible. Read more on City of Tucson website
