Over the past few weeks, hundreds of carnations (setting a new record!) were purchased through our annual carnation sale and orders have been put together and delivered by our resident florists-in-training in our vocational classroom this week.

Tons of teamwork and collaboration went into this sweet event and we want to give a special shout out to the therapists and staff who helped ensure that all students had the opportunity to participate!

Happy Valentine's Day!

On behalf of the entire Melmark New England team, we extend a heartfelt Mission Moment to our remarkable student, Sarah! Sarah's family shared with us that when she first started, achieving such a milestone would have seemed impossible. However, thanks to the dedication and support of her past and present teams, Sarah recently had the opportunity to attend a prom where she interacted with multiple individuals she didn't know, and she had a joyous and successful time, filled with smiles and laughter! We are immensely proud of Sarah for this remarkable achievement!

PARENTS: DESE REMINDER!

We are pleased to inform you that the School Program at Andover and Stoughton will be undergoing DESE licensing evaluations on March 4th and 5th. As part of this process, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) will be sending out parent surveys via email in advance. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we encourage all parents who receive these surveys to take the time to complete them and provide your insights. Your input will help us continuously improve our programs and services. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the surveys or the licensing process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for your continued support and participation in enhancing the educational experience for our students.

Student Illness Reminder

Parents: As we strive to maintain a healthy and safe environment, we kindly remind you to keep a vigilant eye on your child's well-being. If your child exhibits any symptoms of illness, such as fever, cough, or flu-like symptoms, we urge you to keep them home. This precautionary measure not only safeguards your child but also helps prevent the potential spread of illness within our school community. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Nursing Department, email: mwizboski@melmarkne.org. Thank you.

2023 Satisfaction Surveys Action Plans

We extend our sincere gratitude to all individuals and guardians who took the time to complete the Individual or Guardian Satisfaction Survey in the months of October and November 2023. Earlier this month, we shared the survey results pertaining to both Children's Services Programs and Adult Services Programs with all Administrators.

Subsequently, in a collaborative effort, we deliberated on identified areas that warrant further assessment, reinforcing our commitment to ongoing service improvement initiatives. To communicate our proactive approach, we have developed an Action Plan to address key themes gleaned from the survey findings.

This Action Plan will serve as a roadmap for targeted follow-up, with progress updates scheduled to be presented during our quarterly Advisory Council meetings in 2024. Your active engagement and valuable insights have been instrumental in shaping our strategies for enhancement.

Once again, we appreciate your participation in the satisfaction survey and look forward to your continued collaboration in our shared pursuit of service excellence.

Inclement Weather Communication

Weather Related Closings and Delays:

It’s that time of year again. As we get ready for another winter and the snow that’s likely to come, we would like to remind everyone that if Melmark's Andover, Stoughton or Lawrence locations close or will experience delays, it will be advertised on 7 NEWS on Channel 7 and Channel 56 (CW).*

In addition, you can access closings or delays via the WHDH website, http://www.whdh.com or by downloading their free 7NEWS mobile app. Just search WHDH in the app store. Scroll down the main page and tap the storm closings box.

If time permits, you may also get a Blackboard Connect (aka Connect Ed) message and email notification from Melmark Administration by 6:00 a.m.

Please ensure that we have your most updated phone numbers (and email address) in order to receive these voice and email notifications in a timely manner.

*Please note that each site will be labeled separately in the event that closure is only specific to certain locations. Example- Melmark New England/Stoughton vs  Melmark New England/Andover vs Melmark New England/Lawrence.
