TexasREALTORS® is the largest, most politically active professional trade association in Texas. We work with state lawmakers to ensure Texas remains an economical powerhouse and the place to buy, sell, and lease property. On March 26, a group of 40 GLAR Members rode to Capitol Hill in Austin, meeting with State Representatives Tan Parker, Lynn Stucky, Justin Holland, Michelle Beckley's office, Jared Patterson's office, and Senators Pat Fallon and Jane Nelson's office. We specifically spoke on the subjects of Eminent Domain (Support SB421/SB552, HB991, HB1245), TREC Sunset Review ( Support SB624/HB1675), Disaster Response (SB6, SB7, SB8, SB1322/SJR49, SB1772/SJR57, HB4433/HJR142, HB5, HB6, HB7, HB13/HJR4, HB478/HJR81), Property Tax Reform/Relief (Support SB2/HB2 - Oppose HB185, HB1036, HB3493, HB1816, SB853), School Finance Reform (Support SB4, HB3), Home Equity (Support SB474/HB1254), Annexation (Support SB408/SB1432/SB745/HB347). We received a warm welcome from each of our Legislative offices. Thank you to Kellie Stokes for teaching the CE class on "Do I Need a Survey?" Thank you to our Affiliate Advertisers for sharing their treats: Julie Watson, Eddy Foster, Stacy Stoltz, Gordon Law, Gina Leslie.

On our national front, another group of 10 Members will be visiting our federal Legislators in Washington DC May 14-17. Thank you Governmental Affairs Chair Mark Wise and Vice Chair Connie Niedzwiecki for leading the way!

Thank you to President Traci Nicodemus and Education Chair Steve Etzel for our 2nd "Real Estate Pros in the Know" podcast - "The Value of Using a REALTOR". The monthly podcasts are cataloged at www.glar.com, and distributed for Members to use as a resource for their clients/contacts. REALTORS® know this community, know the city leaders, know the economic growth, are EXPERTS in our town(s) . They have the MOST accurate real estate information on what it is like to live in this area. Our May podcast will be discussing how sellers should prepare their homes to list and what to specifically look for in homes they buy.

On April 15, our Community Services Committee Vice Chair Charlotte Finley led committee members Erum Ali, Brandy Jett, Kavita Gupta, Stacy Stoltz, and Jack Mallouf to serve at the CCA Golden Angels luncheon.

Thank you to these REALTORS® for helping take care of some of our local residents! CCA needs help during the month of May with volunteers for several projects. And Members, be on the lookout for what Chair Patty Southard has in store for our July STUFF THE BUS fundraiser!

NETWORKING BREAKFAST - Thursday, May 2nd, 9am-10am, no charge, complimentary catered breakfast, at GLAR. MLS Chair Tina Murphy will host Marc Moffitt, Denton County Appraisal District . Be a voice in the property tax discussion! There will be an MLS Tour that follows the Breakfast. The Affiliate/Membership Committee, chaired by Glynn Mosier , will meet from 10am-10:45am, also after the Breakfast.

MAY SOIREE - Please help TREPAC Chair Brandy Jett and Vice Chair Rosalie Bishop support the 2500+ real estate laws being reviewed that affect our home-ownership and our profession. Invest in TREPAC! Please help us welcome Jenny Law to our GLAR Staff . Jenny has been working with our office as occasional temporary help for 5 years. We now have her on board, bringing her professional skills and delightful attitude to help serve our Members in an even bigger way! Jenny will be our Marketing/Supra Coordinator and will begin officially on May 5 (after she rests from coordinating our May Soiree!). We are glad you are here, Jenny!

Unable change your personal information in the MLS? GLAR is responsible for notifying all support organizations of all record changes for our members. Therefore we must have a written request to make changes (email works fine) and will push the data to NAR, TAR, GLAR, MLS and Supra if applicable. Just send an email to me with the requested changes or use this online form.

To avoid unnecessary late fees, be sure to check your email and contact me if you have any billing questions.

Supra First for Support

With extended weekday and weekend hours , your first call when experiencing issues with your Supra Key or blue box should be Supra Support. They can help troubleshoot while you are at the property, and help decipher error codes. Also if a replacement is needed, they will give you a reference code to bring to GLAR to make the free exchange. Store the Supra Support number 877-699-6787 in your phone now.
