The LegiSchool Civics Virtual Institute gives a select number of California high school students the opportunity to participate in an intensive 4-week online program that explores important policy issues in California and provides students the tools to develop leadership and professional skills. A stipend will be provided to the student at the completion of the summer program.
The LegiSchool Civics Virtual Institute is an online summer internship program and is not a Sacramento State college course.
Students will learn about each of the three branches of government with an emphasis on public service and the political process. Activities include: online discussions with experts to learn more about state agencies, the judicial branch, California policy and politics as well as attend online webinars and professional workshops.
Who can apply?
Applicants must currently be enrolled as a junior or senior at any California high school for the 2019-20 school year.
Participation Requirements
Participants must have reliable internet access and have access to a computer for online webinars and presentations and be willing to commit to the entirety of the program,
June 15, 2020 - July 10, 2020.
Interviews
Invitations to interview will be extended to a limited number of applicants. Interviews will take place via video the first week of June.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
(2) Submit a two page statement answering the question: “What do you believe is the greatest challenge your generation will face?” Must be typed, double spaced, 12pt font.
(3) Submit a one page statement explaining why you would like to participate in the LegiSchool Civics Virtual Institute. What qualities do you bring to the program? Must be typed, double spaced, 12 pt font.
