Good Morning!
We have two items for your review today. First is an update regarding CERTS and the other is about free FMCSA webinars.
In case you have not heard, the U.S. Treasury Department finished reviewing the remaining CERTS applications and have determined the amount of funding available to make second payments to approved grantees. This distribution of second payments will complete the initial funding cycle for the CERTS grant program.
Grantees should notice a change in their status in the CERTS grant application portal and a notice will arrive via email. Many may have received the email already. The Treasury payments will be by ACH Direct Deposit and the funds should be available to grantees within 1 or 2 business days. The combined total of the first and second grant payments represents the full grant award.
Also, it is advised that grantees who have not completed their signed grant agreements in time for this round of payments, will receive a single lump sum payment for the full grant award, rather than a split payment, following receipt of their signed agreements. The payment schedule will also differ for grantees requiring a bankruptcy addendum to their agreements.
While this completes the distribution of the initial $2 billion in funding, we, as an industry with ABA, UMA and other partners, are continuing to seek additional funds for the CERTS grant program to assist us in the recovery of the pandemic. Please let your congressional delegates know the need for additional funding. Please send a note today, make a call, or use the campaign our friends at ABA created. Click here for the link.
Further, next Friday, we are speaking to Governor's Wolf's office to again request dollars from the leftover American Rescue funding received by the Commonwealth. We wrote a letter to Governor Wolf a while ago, and kept asking the question to anyone that would listen. Our lobbying firm, Milliron Goodman, was instrumental in getting the call scheduled for us. We will keep you updated!
