FMCSA has awarded a cooperative agreement to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Training, Research and Education for Driving Safety (TREDS) program to provide training to Commercial Drivers about the dangers of driving distracted. As this program is funded by FMCSA, the training is completely free and should be delivered to CDL holders at no cost.
They have developed successful traffic safety programs for several years and has a series of distracted driving awareness programs for the general public, first responders, and Commercial Industry drivers.
TREDS is interested in developing instructor teams in Pennsylvania to prepare traffic safety professionals to deliver the Just Drive: Deliver Distraction-Free curriculum to commercial drivers. Instructors will deliver a one-hour multimedia program, using videos, group participation and a PowerPoint slide presentation.
Per TREDS, a trainer/instructor are typically industry representatives, or other professionals, who provide safety education to CDL holders. A train-the-trainer program will model delivery of the curriculum and review program implementation.

Instructors will attend a three-hour Virtual Train-the-Trainer program where all materials necessary to deliver the Just Drive: Deliver Distraction-Free curriculum will be provided.
