Congressional leaders have several initiatives to consider before heading home for the November elections. Over the last several months the community has worked hard to ensure part 147 reform is on the priority list. If you haven't already, now is the time to engage with your elected officials and ask them to support aviation technician education.

The Promoting Aviation Regulations for Technical Training (PARTT) 147 Act (S.3043/H.R.5427), if passed into law, would direct the FAA to replace current training requirements with a new, community-drafted regulation that would establish a performance-based oversight system. Under the proposed regulation, aviation maintenance technician schools would have more operational flexibility and the ability to teach content reflective of today’s high-tech environment.
