Ontario Government Helping Cleantech Companies Succeed in a Global Market ONTGOV
On February 13th 2018, the Ontario government announced its Cleantech Strategy, which will help cleantech companies launch products and services, find new customers, and scale up in a global market that is expected to be worth $2.5 trillion by 2022. The Strategy is funded by proceeds from the province's cap and trade program and funding initiatives will include the procurement by the Province of $10 million of new technologies and services through the Green Focus on Innovation and Technology (GreenFIT) program.

Initially, the Strategy will focus on four cleantech sub-sectors:
  • Energy generation and storage;
  • Energy infrastructure;
  • Bio-products and bio-chemicals; and
  • Water and wastewater.

Submissions now being accepted for UPPlift: Toronto UPPlift
UPPlift: Toronto is an urban pilot platform connecting innovators with tech resources, support, and opportunities to install their solutions within the city
 
UPPlift is seeking innovators with emergent solutions to make Toronto smarter and more efficient.

Shortlisted innovators will receive:
  • Microsoft azure and IOT solutions, tech support, in-depth workshops and one-on-one meetings
  • Intel developer kits, tech support and mentorship on intel products and intel partners
  • QuadReal and city of Toronto workshops and guidance on proposed pilots
  • Access to communitech innovation programs, mentors and support
Winning innovators will receive:
  • Their innovations piloted within QuadReal's Toronto commercial portfolio or within the city of Toronto
  • Systems integration and coding resources supplied by Microsoft

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Funding Available through Alberta's Community Energy Capacity Building Program ABFunding
Community organizations across Alberta have an opportunity to play a prominent role in supporting the on-going transition to clean energy by developing their own renewable energy projects. To support the development of these projects, Energy Efficiency Alberta is launching the Community Energy Capacity Building Program  to provide funding for capacity building activities. Projects with activities focused on community energy development, could include but are not limited to, renewable energy project feasibility studies, business case development, webinars and training.

All non-commercial organizations and commercial co-operatives registered in Alberta and under an applicable government act may apply for the program. Although partnerships are allowed, each application must be completed by a single organization, with partners listed as directed.

The application deadline is Monday, March 12th at Midnight (MT).

Smart Grid Program launched by Natural Resources Canada smartgrid
NRCan has launched their "Smart Grid Program" which will invest up to $100 million in utility-led projects to reduce GHG emissions, better utilize existing electricity assets and foster innovation and clean jobs for: demonstration of smart grid technologies; and deployment of smart grid integrated systems.

Proposals must be received by March 4, 2018. A webinar will be held this Thursday, January 25th.

CanSIA is working with our members to help them attract additional business through Alberta's Residential and Commercial Solar Program.
  1. CanSIA and Energy Efficiency Alberta connect prospective program participants with our members through our searchable online member directory.
  2. Our consumer protection program lets the public know that our members are adhering to a code of conduct that protects both them and their clients.
  3. Our Proud Member of CanSIA logo lets Albertans know that your company is committed to protecting their interests.
CanSIA members are also listed as Qualified Solar Providers in Energy Efficiency Alberta's online application portal for program participants.
