Join a CanSIA Member Forum

Over the past few years, we have seen a change in what matters most to our members. When we surveyed our members in March of 2015, we were not surprised to see policy influence top the list as CanSIA's most important member service. We introduced Strategic Projects as well as Member Forums last year to engage our members both deeply and broadly in policy development, and to ensure that CanSIA can advocate as effectively as possible on their behalf.

We are proud to report that members increasingly perceive CanSIA as an effective policy influencer and we believe that this is to the credit of our members who have committed themselves to working together to build and sustain a strong market for solar in Canada.

Our members are currently working together in the following Member Forums:
  • Alberta Distribution - Connected Solar Forum
  • CanSIA and CanWEA Pan-Canadian Climate Change Framework Working Group
  • Climate Change Action Plan Forum (ON)
  • FIT 5 Forum (ON)
  • LRP II Procurement Proposal Forum (ON)
Corporate and Supporter 1 members can sign up for Forums through the Members-Only Forums Page or can send us an email request to be added.

Thank you for your continued commitment to solar energy in Canada!

Sincerely,

Lisa Hatina

Business Opportunities
Receive a Wage Subsidy for hiring a Canada Green Corps participan t Green
Canada Green Corps (CGC) is a results-focused, work-integrated learning program that is designed to bridge talented, yet un- and underemployed Canadian youth to meaningful employment in Canada's emerging green economy.

CGC participants possess a range of academic backgrounds - such as business, finance, marketing and engineering - that can immediately assist partner organizations in carrying out their operations more effectively. By hosting a CGC participant, partner organizations receive an approximate 50% wage subsidy based on an average wage of $17/hour. CGC participants bring a fresh perspective to organizations, often finding innovative and more efficient solutions to "the way we've always done it". The six-month work placement offers a convenient trial period to assess how much potential a recent graduate has. It's also an opportunity to carry out a new social media campaign, catch up on a project that has been put on the backburner, or free up some of time of more senior staff.

CGC placements will begin during the last week of September and first week of October.

CanSIA Announcements
Changes to Circulation of CanSIA's Policy & Research Updatepolicy
The solar industry is changing. CanSIA is seeing a trend in the increasing value of policy and market information made available through our monthly Policy & Research Update. CanSIA members show their commitment to the industry in many ways, one of which is their financial support of CanSIA's work on behalf of the industry through their annual membership fees. In recognition of that support, it is only fair that CanSIA members enjoy greater access to valuable information than non-members. To this end, CanSIA will no longer circulate our monthly Policy & Research Update to non-members as of September 1st. CanSIA will, however, continue to circulate the communication to policy-makers, regulators and other stakeholders of importance to our industry.

Here are some highlights from July's Policy and Research Update:
CanSIA Members can access this Policy & Research Update as well as past editions through the Members-Only Portal.
