Wow! What a month for solar in Canada!
Since sending you our Member Benefits & Services Update last month, exciting announcements have been made about the growing market for solar in Alberta and Saskatchewan. What is even more encouraging is that CanSIA continues to position solar as an undeniably viable part of electrifying the grid. This applies not only in Alberta and Saskatchewan but in provinces across the country who will be required to make and manage drastic changes in order for Canada to meet its climate commitments.

This update touches on some of the direct benefits of joining CanSIA's efforts to see solar energy find its rightful place in the Canadian energy market. If you're not yet a member, join us and be part of the solar success story.
Marketing Opportunities
Show off your 'Proud Member of CanSIA' logo!Proud
Build trust with consumers and demonstrate your commitment to the success and satisfaction of your clients by proudly displaying your CanSIA member logo on your website and corporate materials.

As of June of this year, all members have been asked to fill out a form signaling their agreement to the new Solar Business Code of Conduct and Complaint Resolution and Disciplinary Process. These initiatives help our industry convey a consumer focus by setting clear standards that CanSIA members agree to adhere in the conduct of their business and offer expanded resources to which they can refer when evaluating the decision to go solar.

More than ever, all members of CanSIA, especially those who deal directly with consumers, should actively display their "Proud Member of CanSIA" logo. CanSIA Members can access their "Proud Member of CanSIA" logo on the CanSIA Member Logo Members-Only Page.

If your company is a member of CanSIA and hasn't yet signed the agreement, please visit the Consumer Protection Initiative Page to access and fill out the form.

The industry has long been readying for solar to expand across Canada and now is a pivotal time to position your company front and center at CanSIA's annual trade show:
  1. Canada's new federal government is committed to accelerating renewable energy through new policy initiatives including a commitment to making Canada the most tax-competitive jurisdiction for investment in cleantech in the world.
  2. In 2016, Ontario will award almost 500 MW of long-term contracts for small, medium and large installations (solar installations in Ontario will create the equivalent of over 12,000 jobs and the industry will invest over $5.5 billion in Ontario between 2010 and 2020).
  3. Western Canada's solar market is about to grow rapidly with Alberta committing to tripling its electricity from renewable resources from 10 to 30% and Saskatchewan doubling its capacity from renewable resources by 2030 from 25 to 50% and starting to procure 60 MW of utility-scale solar in 2016.
