Join CanSIA to participate in the NEW Ontario Net Metering Working Group

In Ontario, the solar industry is being held back by the lack of a clear regulatory framework to enable both Virtual Net Metering (VNM), also known as Community Solar, and Third-Party Ownership (3PO) of on-site solar.

With the province facing a rapidly emerging generation supply needs and mounting public pressure to act on climate change, CanSIA believes that now is a pivotal time to step up our advocacy efforts with an aim to achieve 3PO and VNM regulations that will create new market opportunities for the Ontario solar industry.

CanSIA is therefore launching an Ontario Net Metering Working Group, through which we will work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including municipalities, Indigenous communities, commercial and industrial sector stakeholders, and NGOs in advocating for regulations that will enable VNM and 3PO. This group will be a dedicated forum for dialogue on net metering policy and regulation, where we will seek members' input in developing our positions and provide members with updates on CanSIA's ongoing advocacy efforts at Queen's Park.

We envision the time commitment for member participants being a monthly conference call, various email updates from CanSIA throughout the month as necessary, and possibly a quarterly in-person meeting in Toronto.

Don’t miss out, join today to access and participate in the working group! New members are eligible for a 50% discount on membership fees, please contact Julie Mair , Membership & Business Development Manager for more information. The researcher is working to evaluate an ontology-based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) model for solar PV, which would address various factors associated with PV system planning including snow cover, partial shading, and various temperatures in different environments. Your support is greatly appreciated, and results of the research will be shared with members. The survey is available here .
