The Power to Grow
With over one-third of its land designated for farming, Surrey, a vital contributor to B.C.’s food supply, is well-positioned to lead agritech innovation in the province and beyond. Based in the city, the B.C. Centre for Agritech Innovation (BCCAI) is at the forefront, empowering local agri-producers and SMEs with value-added services, including access to innovation and technology experts locally and globally, training and upskilling, and funding to develop and adopt technologies that enhance productivity and profitability while securing the food value chain amidst global challenges.
Since 2022, BCCAI has co-invested $17.4 million to support 32 industry-led projects, train over 1600 highly qualified personnel, and help B.C. businesses bring 23 products, processes, and services to market while growing revenue by over $19 million.
With support from BCCAI, companies such as Nourish Labs in Delta and Kahlon Farms in Abbotsford are advancing smart fertigation and optimizing early-season plug production. These collaborations are improving operational performance and strengthening B.C.’s food systems.
Surrey’s farmers, producers, and businesses are leading the next wave of agricultural innovation. And BCCAI is committed to providing the support they need to grow.
