I CAN HEAR YOUR VOICE

Surrey Arts Centre

Following two years of pandemic, XBa emerges with an important, original dance event for the community. Held on the Main Stage of the Surrey Arts Centre on April 29th, 2022, XBa's highly trained International Certification and returning advanced students will perform to a public audience for the first time since March of 2020, in what promises to be a ground-breaking, and emotional event.

For this unique fusion of live dance arts, XBa School of Dance will welcome guests from various cultural dance groups including Scottish Highland dancers The Wee Drams, a Macedonian Folk dance group, Classical Indian Dance by Prajakta Trehan of the NAAD Foundation, a soloist from the Tamanawis Secondary School dance team, and Semiahmoo First Nations dancers.

Partnering with local artists Lyn Verra-Lay and Helmut Gruntorad of Semiahmoo Arts Society, to also blend visual and photographic arts, XBa owners Nela and Amadea Hallwas are forging a new movement in the Art of Dance for this incredibly special day, to coincide also with their yearly celebration of International Dance Day.

As members in good standing of UNESCO’s Conseil International de la Danse, XBa School of Dance is the only dance education facility in BC to offer the International Certification in Dance Studies to their students. XBa was winner of the SSWR Chamber of Commerce 2020 Business of the Arts Resiliency Award and Amadea Hallwas is finalist in the 2022 Surrey Women in Business Awards, Emerging Leader Category. XBa is a proud member of the South Surrey White Rock Chamber of Commerce, and invites the business community to come out and support local arts, artists, and join us to celebrate a return to the live arts.
Announcement
Moving into their 23rd year of operation, XBa is excited to announce they will be rebranding as of September 2022 as the:
XBa Dance Centre
For the International Performing Arts
For the first time in their history, XBa’s amazing Gothic doors will open to the community, as a select performance venue.

With 2800 square feet of wide open studio space, XBa Dance Centre is the largest studio space in our community, can seat up to 200 audience members in a variety of formations, and can easily morph into creative performance spaces suitable for dance, theatre, music and so much more!

With a theatre-sized move screen, and a 70'x20' black velvet theatre curtain, the space lends itself to everything from an intimate performance setting, to a film and photography studio. Visual Art events offer a departure from galleries, into a unique and edgy setting, found only in a metropolis.

XBa is excited to make a unique and very special performance venue available to our community for select events. Contact them directly for bookings and additional information:
