The Watauga Humane Society Board of Directors is pleased to introduce Justin Vander as Executive Director.

Justin holds a Master of Business Administration and brings more than 20 years’ experience working and volunteering in non-profit organizations in various capacities. He brings experience in operations, development, community relations, fundraising, and business management. He will lead efforts to increase the shelter’s donor base, expand its outreach, education initiatives, and further its spay/neuter efforts in our community.

Grandfather Mountain’s 2023 Weather in Review                                

LINVILLE, N.C. – Grandfather Mountain is a rugged place known for its wild and fast-changing weather. While no records were set or broken in 2023, the year saw many noteworthy monthly totals, according to data collected at the nature park’s official weather reporting stations near the Mile High Swinging Bridge and Wilson Center for Nature Discovery.
