How to write a business plan
Thursday, February 11, 2021 | 2:00 PM | WEBINAR

Never written a business plan before? Heard horror stories of 100-page business plans? Fear not! ATB Entrepreneur Centre Strategist Catherine Glambeck will walk you through the different components that make up a great business plan.

This one hour workshop will answer the “what”, “why” and “how” questions around business planning. At the end of this crash course you’ll be able to:

  • Define the necessary elements of a business plan and how these pieces come together
  • Understand the purpose of a business plan and how it can get a new business or idea on track

Speaker: Catherine Glambeck, ATB

ATB X: User Testing
Thursday, February 18, 2021 | 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM | ONLINE

Getting raw feedback from people outside of your business is critical as you are testing and iterating.

Stop waiting for feedback—get instant constructive comments from other Albertan entrepreneurs who have been there, and done that!

What can you get feedback on?

  • Social media post(s)/ad(s)
  • Landing page, website, customer testimonials
  • Product packaging, service pitch
  • Drip strategy, marketing copy
  • Job posting or on-boarding process

If you can pitch it in 5 minutes or less—it's a good fit for this session!

How does that sound?

Organizations are invited to apply for funding between $5,000 and $250,000 to lead projects that help create safe and vibrant public spaces, improve mobility options, and provide digital solutions to help their neighbourhoods or communities navigate the pandemic and look to build back better in the COVID-19 recovery. This could include projects that adapt crosswalks and access to public transport to allow for safe physical distancing, the creation of community gardens, and art installations, and free wifi in targeted public spaces. A variety of community-led organizations are eligible to apply, including local governments, charities, Indigenous communities, and registered non-profit organizations.

Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta and Wood Buffalo Community Foundation are working alongside Community Foundations of Canada, the Canadian Urban Institute and other partners to serve communities across Canada, including equity-seeking groups interested in applying.

“Organizations across our country have shown creativity and resourcefulness in improvising temporary and longer-lasting solutions that enable people to connect and access public spaces safely. The Healthy Communities Initiative is supporting organizations in Alberta North HUB region to bring people together in our communities both in person and digitally, while respecting public health measures.” - Andrea Dicks, President, Community Foundations of Canada

The application period for the first round of funding closes on March 9, 2021 at 5:00PM PST. A second application period for funding will take place starting in May 2021.

Our learning team and volunteers are busy making FREE Creativity Kits for the community, schools and organizations in Grande Prairie and the County once again! We distributed over 2000 Free Creativity Kits back in December through this wonderful Art at Home Program, which is sponsored by ATB Financial.

With the Art Gallery still being closed to the public we have partnered with Grande Prairie Family Education Society to help distribute these kits to the community. If you would like to pick up a kit for you or for your family, please contact the Grande Prairie Family Education Society at 780-830-0920 or email [email protected]. They are open 8:30am-4:30pm M-F with convenient parking in front of their building at 9607 102 St.

We hope to distribute more kits in the coming weeks to schools and community organizations to enrich the community through the sharing of art. If you are an organization or group wanting to participate in the initiative, please let us know how many you would like and we will be happy to deliver them to your location. Contact [email protected] or call 780-357-7480.
