First Friday Artwalk!

September has arrived which means tonight is Dupont's Artwalk. Kick off your long weekend with a stroll through the neighborhood and ArtWalk Dupont takes place on the First Friday of each month and features Dupont Circle art galleries, embassies, and cultural centers. MPD Community Engagement Academy
Launched in 2015, the Community Engagement Academy allows community members to learn firsthand about police operations. Through this eight-week program, the Department provides participants with a personal view of the positive aspects and challenges that confront officers daily.

During training, participants learn about:
  • The recruit training program.
  • Common policing scenarios and challenges.
  • Patrol Services and take station tours.
  • Specialized policing units (e.g., K-9, bomb squad, harbor patrol).
  • Use of Force.
  • Various policing topics from command staff members.

The DC Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection announced a two part workshop will explore the latest laws, trends, and requirements surrounding the regulation of short-term rentals.

These workshops are intended to give you a basic understanding of the regulatory processes used to obtain a license and will also touch on how to successfully navigate the application process and provide tips on how to stay in compliance with local laws to have a successful rental experience on any booking platform.

Historic Cars at the Capital
Saturday, Sept. 2nd & 9th

National Mall between Smithsonian and USDA

Start your engines and head down to the mall to see some rare gems from the past. The Hagerty Drivers Foundation is hosting "Cars at the Capital Family Festival Day" which will include Amelia Earharts' Cord 812 (pictured here) which will be rotated out with a 1952 Porsche America Roadster that's one of only 16 produced.

DC Bike Ride - 20 Miler for Charity!
Saturday, September 9th

The 7th annual D.C. Bike Ride will take place on September 9th with 20 miles of streets from the Capitol to the Pentagon closed off for thousands of riders. The ride raises money for Pedal for a Purpose, which supports food insecurity and other community programs in the region
