AMBASSADOR'S CORNER

Meet Sherri Rosecrans - 95.3 CFX & Black Diamond Broadcasting

Hi, I’m Sherri Rosecrans, Integrated Marketing Consultant with 95.3 CFX and Black Diamond Broadcasting. I first moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1987 to attend CMU at the age of 24. I thought I would graduate and move away like so many others but I decided to build a life here instead. After taking the Rollie Denison Leadership Course in 2000, I learned so much about Mt. Pleasant, which helped me understand what a great community we have. And that’s why I’m still here!

My work at 95.3 CFX and Black Diamond Broadcasting is very rewarding and fun. No two days are the same. I get to help large and small businesses grow through the use of on-air marketing, digital products, and Discover Michigan Magazine. And for those who are hiring, through Michigan4Hire.

I’ve been a Chamber Ambassador since 2004. Aside from wearing the green coat, it’s been my pleasure to mentor new Chamber members, network with community citizens, and connect with businesses. The Ambassador group is a fun one. If you’re interested in becoming part of it, let me or a Chamber staff member know.

Aside from work and supporting the chamber, I enjoy attending music festivals (Happy Wheatland!), cooking, hanging with my dog, and playing in/on/near the water. I also like stand-up comedy, writing, reading, and making chimes with old silverware.

I look forward to seeing everyone at Chamber events.

Do you enjoy mentoring and meeting new people? Maybe you have the calling to become an Ambassador.

Our ambassadors play a crucial role to maintain contact with Chamber members and help them recognize and utilize the value of their membership. They also ensure you are getting what you want out of our membership.

Ambassadors serve in many ways, such as:

  • Greeting members at Chamber functions and performing other goodwill projects such as ribbon cuttings, etc.
  • Encouraging participation of current members at Chamber functions
  • Visiting members in their businesses, and subsequently providing feedback to the Chamber
  • Mentoring new members

If you would like to know more about being a Chamber Ambassador, contact Deena at [email protected].

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Kolmarge Harris - Lansing Spartans Youth Organization - Mt. Pleasant Boxing & Fitness

As someone who grew up on the streets of Chicago, Kolmarge Harris knows firsthand the challenges urban children can face. After retiring from a 20-year career as a professional boxer, Harris started Lansing Spartans Youth Organization to combine his love for boxing with his desire to mentor at-risk youth in his community. He now also runs Mt. Pleasant Boxing and Fitness and hopes to bring the same level of dedication and success to Mt. Pleasant that he has seen in Lansing. He strives to be a leader and help youth learn to work as a team. He says he wants to show kids “If I did it, you can too.”

As Harris has worked to bolster Mt. Pleasant Boxing and Fitness, he is excited to welcome a strength and conditioning coach, Andrew Beals. A Nationally Certified Personal Trainer, Beals is passionate about teaching fitness to all walks of life from youth to adults and even senior citizens. He hopes to help his clients form healthy lifestyle habits and help them overcome obstacles to reach their goals.

Harris says he can see progress every day. Not only physical, but mental and emotional progress helps children become well-rounded individuals. One of the most rewarding things for Harris is helping kids that perhaps felt like they had nowhere to go before. Harris says that boxing requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and control – things that he hopes the kids can take away and use in their everyday lives. Harris hopes to share his life experiences in and out of the boxing ring to positively impact these kids' lives.
