Pastor George Hutchison and a small group of 33 people planted First Assembly in a rented building on South Jackson Street on July 14, 1963. The Home Missions Department of the Tennessee District of the Assemblies of God agreed to support the efforts of the church for six months; however, after four months there were enough members to set the church in order and become a sovereign church with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. Under Pastor George Hutchison's leadership, the church grew and purchased three acres of land on West Lincoln Street which had been used as a dairy farm. The first church building was built and dedicated in January of 1967. This building is presently being used as the youth/kids chapel and fellowship hall. The present sanctuary was built and dedicated on July 13, 1997. Participating in the dedication was Tullahoma Mayor Lane Curlee and the late Rev.
