Spring is in full swing and we're excited to celebrate the return of warmer temps with some great outdoor events!
Just around the corner is PEP's 23rd Annual Golf Tournament, a favorite of our members and others in the community. I hope your team can join us for another beautiful day of golf, great food and networking at Magnolia Grove on May 12th. Before the golf tournament, we have another great chance to get outdoors and do some good in the community, at the Montlimar Creek Cause to Clean on April 28. We're excited to announce another networking opportunity coming soon, in addition to our regular membership breakfast, sponsored by Geosyntec Consultants. Save the date for our PEP Networking Social on May 23 starting at 4:30 p.m. at Old Majestic Brewing Company.

A CAUSE TO CLEAN - APRIL 28TH AT MONTLIMAR CREEK
Join other PEP members in A Cause to Clean: Montlimar Creek Clean-Up!
We are asking companies to encourage their employees to volunteer on Friday, April 28, 2023, starting at 1 p.m., to pick up litter along Montlimar Creek. The event is organized and sponsored by PEP, Hampton Inn Mobile I-65, Osprey Initiative, Mobile Bay National Estuary Program, and Dog River Clearwater Revival. Vests, gloves, garbage bags and pickers will be provided.
Parking, registration and restrooms will be available in the Home Depot parking lot (851 Montlimar Dr in the southeastern side of the parking lot, near Briquettes).

SATURDAY, APRIL 22 IS EARTH DAY IN THE CITY OF MOBILE
This week at the Mobile City Council meeting, Mayor Sandy Stimpson read a proclamation proclaiming Saturday, April 22 as Earth Day in the City of Mobile. Many of our local environmental organizations came together in support of the proclamation - and in protecting our natural resources.
Part of the proclamation reads:
Whereas, many local community members, schools, businesses, and environmental organizations in the City of Mobile are working together in the interest of the planet to inspire intergenerational participation through local actions and global environmental consciousness; and
Whereas, the City of Mobile proudly recognizes all who participate in Earth Day, for their dedication to taking a proactive role in shaping the future of our environment and protecting the City of Mobile’s, and the World’s, precious natural resources, and various wildlife. How can YOU support Earth Day? There are many ways! You can support Earth Day Mobile Bay at Fairhope Pier or attend one of THREE events in Mobile County, including Operation Clean Sweep: North Mobile County, Mobile County Recycling Center's Expanded Recycling Event, or Love Your Community's Second Annual Earth Day Celebration.

AMERICAN WELDING SOCIETY RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AT MYER COMPANIES
PEP Member company MYER Companies received recognition by the national organization, American Welding Society (AWS). MYER's Quality Control Manager, Michael Bailey, was named AWS District 09 CWI of the Year. This award honors Michael’s outstanding performance and contribution to welding inspection within the Mobile Section of District 09 in 2022.
In 2022, Michael was one of two people who were voted worthy of receiving the District CWI of the Year award.
"Michael's leadership and extensive knowledge of metal fabrication standards continues to elevate the entire MYER organization. We are so proud of Michael for receiving this prestigious and deserved award and are proud to have him as a key member of our team,” says Bradley Myer, MYER Chief Development Officer.

A tradition since 1967, the Mobile Area Council of Engineers (MACE) recognizes Engineers in the community for their achievements and leadership. As a 501c3, MACE hosts the annual awards as an opportunity to encourage excellence through the identification and promotion, both within the profession and the community at large, for the outstanding accomplishments in the advancement of the science and practice of engineering in the region.
