Mercer County: No Cost English as a Second Language Program Encourage your staff to improve their English-speaking skills. There are evening virtual courses on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning September 13 through October 13, from 4:30-6:30 pm. Limited space is available. Hunterdon County: Well Testing Kits Available at the Branchburg Health Department A limited supply of well-testing kits from the Raritan Headwaters Association are available for residents that believe their well may have been impacted by the storm last week. The kits will only test for bacteria and cost $25. For more information, see the attached flyer.

Hunterdon County is Eligible for FEMA Assistance Before applying for FEMA individual assistance funding, residents are encouraged to first photograph and document in detail all damages sustained, followed by contacting your insurance company to report those damages. Residents and business owners who sustained losses can begin applying for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired, from 7 am to 10 pm (seven days a week until further notice). Somerset County: Residents’ Input Sought for Elimination of Railway Crossing Project in Bound Brook Join the Somerset County Planning Division Monday, September 13, from 6:30 to 8 pm, for a virtual public meeting to discuss the “Freight Concept Development Study,” which will explore potential options to eliminate the Port Reading railroad crossing in Bound Brook for the purpose of improving the town’s safety, boosting its economic vitality and easing traffic congestion. Presenters will also explain the goals of the project, its challenges, and address the public’s questions and comments. Read more.

New Jersey Realtors: The Board of Directors of the NAR Realtors Relief Foundation has New Jersey Realtors’ grant applications to provide housing-related (mortgage and rental) assistance to those impacted by Tropical Storm Ida. This assistance is for the general public as well as members. We will provide the information and a link to the assistance application as soon as it’s available – most likely late next week.

NJ-DCA.com: Eviction Prevention Program This week the DCA announced its newest rental assistance program, the Eviction Prevention Program. The program expands income eligibility so more New Jerseyans can apply, stay in their homes, and avoid eviction. The program also encourages landlords to apply for assistance on behalf of their tenants rather than filing for eviction. For more info and to view the application, click here

NJ.gov: Partnership With Uber and Lyft to Provide Ride Service to Residents Who Lost Transportation as a Result of Tropical Storm Ida The State of NJ has partnered with Uber and Lyft to provide free and discounted rides to New Jerseyans who lost a personal vehicle as a result of Ida.
