The Comox Valley Regional District invites you to their new office at 770 Harmston Avenue in downtown Courtenay for their Open House on March 18 from 5 to 7 PM.

Downtown Courtenay Business Association (DCBIA) aims to promote Downtown and boost the community through findings of recent survey. The association recently held a survey focused on illegal activity to find out what merchants are experiencing and how they could work together to support both the downtown core and the community as a whole. Courtenay Legion is hosting a 'Get in the spirit of the Irish' with a St Patrick's Day Dance early on Saturday March 14, 2020. It's all happening at the Courtenay Legion!! Dance to a local Band starting at 6:30 pm until Midnight. And of course there will be Authentic Irish Food and Drinks. Open to the Public

Dayna Kneeland is the new Employment Engagement Facilitator at North Island College. She connects employers with student job seekers and develops work-integrated learning opportunities in the form of business internships and co-op work terms in the Northern Vancouver Island region. The CVRD is alerting Comox Valley water system users that it will be moving to its backup pump station from March 16 to 19, 2020 while BC Hydro completes its penstock fish screen cleaning. The backup station is located further downstream than the primary withdrawal location and is more susceptible to poor water quality during weather events. Please see HERE for more information.

The CVRD is seeking the community’s input on a shortlist of options for upgrading the service’s conveyance system, including the pipes and pump stations that move wastewater to the sewage treatment plant. New conveyance options are being considered to relocate a vulnerable section of sewer pipe that runs along Balmoral Beach, below the Willemar Bluffs.There are two ways for residents to participate: Visit the engagement portal and fill out an online survey at www.connectcvrd.ca/lwmp. This survey will be live until April 20, 2020. NIC’s 10th annual Career Fair is Thursday, April 1 from 11am-3pm at the Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay. Limited exhibitor spaces are still available.

Two Valley secondary school teams successfully qualified to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky in April. Students from Mark R. Isfeld Secondary captured first place Saturday at the Vancouver Island Regional Tournament hosted at Isfeld on a team paired with students from Victoria’s Claremont Secondary.
