3 . Here's why some say they'll come to DC for March on Washington despite quarantine
WU9SA | July 31, 2020 | by Delia Goncalves

WASHINGTON — In less than a month, nearly 100,000 people are expected to descend on the National Mall for the  Commitment March on Washington  to commemorate 57 years since the first March on Washington and the continued fight against police brutality.

But D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser reiterated her quarantine order for visitors from  27 states  with higher rates of COVID-19. It appears the march participants are included in that order.

“As far as getting too close to people that may be inevitable with the turnout that's expected,” Heather Norton, CEO and founder of the nonprofit  Reloved , said.

The group, based in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, is coordinating a bus trip to D.C. for the August 28th March. More than 100 community members have registered so far.

“We are taking every precaution we can,” she said. "We know that the charter bus companies are doing everything they can, including fumigating and sanitizing all the buses before they depart.”

Pennsylvania is not on the list of states deemed COVID-19 hot spots by D.C. Health, so Norton’s neighbors are not affected by the 14-day quarantine. Still, she said everyone attending will make sure they’re safe. Norton said the nonprofit just received a donation of 1,000 masks and hand sanitizers.

4 . House Dems introduce bill to require masks on planes and in airports
The Hill | July 31, 2020 | by Alex Gangitano

House Democrats introduced a bill that would require passengers to wear masks on commercial planes and in airports to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The Healthy Flights Act, spearheaded by Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman  Peter DeFazio  (D-Ore.) and the panel’s Aviation Subcommittee Chairman  Rick Larsen  (D-Wash.), would clarify that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has the authority to impose the mask requirements.

Major U.S. airlines  announced in June  that masks were required on flights, but the requirement is not mandated by the federal government. Airlines have allowed people to remove their masks to eat or drink, but customers who refused to wear the protective gear could be placed on a do-not-fly list.

6 . Prevost adds to health, safety arsenal with air purification system
Bus & Motorcoach News | July 30, 2020

Prevost added an air purification option to its lineup of air filtration systems as part of the Prevost Clean+Care program to help operators ensure they are providing passengers with the safest transportation possible.

Atlanta-based customer Southeastern Stages Inc. is investing in air purifiers for its intercity scheduled service fleet to support passenger health and safety.

“Preparing the interior of the coach by cleaning and disinfecting before and after each trip is customary, but the challenge was how to keep it clean during a trip,” said Brian Parker, Head of Operations for SES. “Introducing the air purification process, through which the air is regularly refreshed, ensures we provide a passenger environment that is as clean and safe as possible.”
