With the deadline for the extension to apply for PPP on the horizon, the Department of Treasury, working in conjunction with the Small Business Administration, has provided a comprehensive list of answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the forgiveness portion of the program. The ten page document is available online as a PDF for easy download.

5 . GNJMA forges ahead with fall schedule for in-person Marketplace at Caesar's in Atlantic City
The Greater New Jersey Motorcoach Association (GNJMA) plans to host their October 15 Group Leader Marketplace in person, meeting at Caesar's in Atlantic City. This event is a great opportunity for operators to explore new ideas and options for the 2021 travel season and to connect with industry friends and colleagues.

The registration deadline is September 1. Because we are in uncertain times, GNJMA will provide refunds if the event must be canceled. Operators from surrounding states interested in attending are welcome to register.

7 . Virginia Tech Transportation Institute seeks motorcoach industry input on wellness programs

The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute is currently conducting a study to create a comprehensive catalog of existing health and wellness programs in commercial motor vehicle operations to readily identify and detail programs and best practices.

The Institute has developed a 1-minute survey inquiring about your company’s health and wellness program.

Every UMA Member has an opportunity to greatly assist the Institute’s research by completing the survey. We urge you to take a minute and help them with their study.

The Institute does great work and makes a serious contribution to highway safety.

8 . Coach builder survey shows huge drop in second quarter sales
Washington, D.C. – The American Bus Association Foundation released its second quarter 2020 Motorcoach Builder Survey.

Based on surveys of the major motorcoach manufacturers that sell vehicles in the United States and Canada, motorcoach sales from the participating manufacturers saw a massive decrease in sales from the second quarter in 2019: falling from 766 units in 2019 to 129 units (59 new coaches and 70 pre-owned coaches) in 2020.

There was an overall 83 percent decrease in sales year over year. However, new sales of coaches 40-<45 feet saw an increase of 75 percent over last year’s sales.
