Editor's Note

Stephanie Hook, DPM

Summer is just around the corner. For a lot of us, that means we are busier at home as well as work. If you are like me, the beginning of summer also means that you are looking forward to attending the APMA National soon! I am looking forward to being in Nashville in July and hope to get to reconnect with many of you and meet many more. The National is an amazing opportunity to do just that, as well as learn and explore products and vendors. Of course, you can’t miss the chance to cheer on your alma mater in the Podiatry School Student Quiz Bowl. Go KSUCPM!

Meanwhile, at Headquarters, our fantastic staff and Exam Committee are approaching a very busy time. While CAQs are complete, they continue to work with PearsonVue in standards setting so results can be shared with our Diplomates this summer. In addition, the application period opens next month for our certification examination. As information is released, please help to share it with your younger colleagues- as early as graduating residents! ABPM looks forward to continuing to certify Today’s Podiatrist.

CAQ in Surgery Results to Come This Summer

ABPM Recently sat dozens of Board Certified podiatrists for its inaugural Certificate of Added Qualification in Podiatric Surgery examination earlier this Spring. ABPM's exams department continues to work diligently with its partners at PearsonVue to produce exam results, with all results for the CAQ in Podiatric Surgery exam expected to be available this Summer. More specific dates and date ranges will be published accordingly.

The CAQ in Podiatric Surgery is one of three Certificates of Added Qualification issued by ABPM to document achieved expertise in a given sub-specialty of podiatry. These are Amputation Prevention and Wound Care (CAQ-AMP), Podiatric Sports Medicine (CAQ-PSM), and Podiatric Surgery (CAQ-PS). Qualification for any CAQ offered by ABPM is determined by the candidate supplying supporting documentation for their experience, including mandatory case submissions, verified third-party testimony, and record of fellowship training and completion, among other qualifiers. More information on our CAQ program can be found at www.podiatryboard.org.

Come See Us at The APMA National Scientific Conference!

ABPM will be out and about at the APMA's National Scientific Conference in Nashville, TN, from July 13-16, 2023. The National is one of our favorite events and we look forward to seeing many of our members all in one place each summer.

Many new faces have joined ABPM since the last National in Orlando in 2022. These include new members of our Exams Department, Evelyn and Sarah, and our very capable Administrative Assistant, Karli. You will also get a chance to meet some of our newest members of the Board of Directors and committee members serving on ABPM's various committees and subcommittees.

ABPM will be exhibiting in the main exhibit hall at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel. We will also be hosting a Town Hall in the Lincoln A room at 6:30p.m. and a Meet the Board of Directors reception immediately following in the Jackson EF room, both on Saturday, July 15, where we will be hosting a raffle and giveaway. See you there!
