BA in English and Art History; Master of Liberal Arts with Museum Studies focus.
What was your professional background before your current position?
Experience in museums and education.
Describe your current position and what do you like best about it:
I am the Curator and Education Coordinator meaning I am responsible for exhibitions and collections management along with all of the education programs and outreach opportunities. I like how the two positions sort of feed into one another and can influence different projects.
What has been your biggest professional challenge?
Trying to get my foot in the museum field door.
Have you seen any shifts towards sustainability in the workplace that you think would be useful in other libraries or institutions?
Reusing materials to prevent waste and finding multipurpose uses for exhibits and educational materials.
How are you supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in your work environment?
Whenever I am working on a project I think about inclusion and accessibility. Working in the history field I am aware of the past lack of representation when it comes to communities that are often overlooked in academic curriculums, media, museums, government, etc. Working with my colleagues in curation, educational programs, and community events, I strive to include and support everyone.

Alabama Department of History and Archives, Kelly Fitzpatrick Center for the Arts, Right to Run.
What advice would you give to someone new to the field?
Try to get as much experience as you can in various sectors in the field that you want to be a part of.
Are there any tips you would like to share that help you get things done?
Make sure that you take breaks so that when you are working, you are focused on the task at hand.

I am most proud of my ability to adapt and my experience working and living all over the world.

I would like to learn conservation.
