Community Foundation for Nantucket is dedicated to growing philanthropy to meet the most critical needs of the people on our Island, today and tomorrow. The Community Foundation for Nantucket has three main functions: grant maker, community convener and charitable fund holder.

Grants are the primary means through which the Community Foundation directly supports the Island. In 2017 we awarded over $2.5 million in grants, $1.3 million of which were through our three major grant making funds, the Nantucket Fund , the ReMain Nantucket Fund , and NCH Community Health Fund in partnership with Nantucket Cottage Hospital.
This past July, the Foundation awarded $170,520 in Nantucket Fund grants to 26 nonprofit recipients whose missions and programs most closely align with the community's greatest needs. Annually CFN convenes members of the Nantucket community to identify and discuss the most pressing current needs, a practice that allows the Community Foundation to be strategic in our grant making process around priorities identified by community leaders. This year's grants reflected our community's commitment to affordable housing initiatives, behavioral health, child enrichment, education, health, nutrition, diversity, and elder well-being.
As an organization, the Foundation has an ongoing commitment to convene and learn from community leaders and stakeholders . We work with members of our Board of Trustees, civic leaders, and nonprofit organizations to thoroughly understand where people need help. Today, the most pressing need might be for housing or mental health support. Tomorrow, the need could be for services to address the challenges of our elderly population or erosion on the Island.

Like most community foundations, the Community Foundation for Nantucket manages charitable funds. Our Community Foundation administers more than 90 funds , including donor-advised funds, endowment funds, scholarship funds, and field of interest funds that support community initiatives.
