BFA In Arts from SUNY Plattsburgh; MS In Library and Information Science from University of Illinois Urbana Champaign


What was your professional background before your current position?

For almost 30 years, I have been fortunate to have many roles as a Librarian- working with patrons from Universal Prekindergarten to Community College age.


Describe your current position and what do you like best about it:

There is such a broad perspective. The opportunity to see the impact of daily library services across an entire region is very exciting.


What has been your biggest professional challenge?

Funding; ensuring services even though budgets seem to slim down each year.


How are you supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in your work environment?

It has always been important to me that my students and community see themselves positively represented within the collection.


What other organizations are you involved with?

NYLA SLS


What advice would you give to someone new to the field?

Take your time, enjoy the journey. One day you will look back and will surprise yourself with all you have done and how many you have impacted.


Are there any tips you would like to share that help you get things done?

Make sure you have someone to bounce things off of and I use lists and calendars extensively.


Favorite web tools or websites:

There are too many and I am a web wanderer!


What are you most proud of?

My children (pictured above with Kelly on the right)


What is one thing you would you like to learn?

The in's and out's of composting. Experiment with different types - worm composting; vermicomposting.


What are you most looking forward to this year?

Gardening! I cannot wait to get out to my yard and add to my flower beds!
