The Kevco Story:
Kevco’s roots trace back to 1975, when I began working after school as a Janitor at University Towers in Wheaton, Maryland. Residents in the building started asking if I could wash their windows and I said, “Yes!” That simple yes turned into something much bigger.
Soon I was washing windows on weekends and evenings, building up a reputation in the neighborhood. What started as a side hustle became something I loved. Eventually, I launched my own company: Kenny’s Window Washing
In 1982, I met my wife Evalyn, and we were married two years later. She has been my biggest supporter from the beginning. In fact, it was Evalyn who encouraged me to officially start my own business before we had kids. As the company grew, we realized we needed a more professional name. So, we held a family contest. The winner: KEVCO – derived from Kenny, Evalyn, and Cohn.
Early on, as we made the transition from residential and storefront work into the commercial space, IREM 92 played a significant role in helping us build credibility and community. Kevco was proud to be one of the original “Friends of IREM”—what is now known as an Industry Partner. Through IREM, we formed some of our longest-standing client relationships and gained invaluable insight into the needs of property managers. IREM was not just a business connection—it became a trusted outlet for personal and professional growth.
As Kevco evolved, we expanded our offerings beyond window cleaning. Today, we are a full-service exterior maintenance company, providing window cleaning, waterproofing, garage cleaning, and pressure washing solutions.
Over the years, we’ve been proud to serve some of the most iconic properties in the DC Metro area, including the U.S. Capitol and Senate/House office buildings, Dulles Airport (where we’ve served for over 29 years), Ronald Reagan and BWI airports, the Supreme Court, and many more commercial buildings throughout the region.
I’ve also been honored to serve the industry in leadership roles. I was a founding member of the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA) and served as its president in 1998. Through this work, we helped elevate safety standards across the profession, including establishing best practices for rooftop anchors and fostering a culture of safety. Our association is the primary reason buildings have anchors today.
Of course, the heart of Kevco is our people. The relationships we have built over the past 40+ years are what truly define us. Our team is like family, and I cherish each member for the passion, professionalism, and integrity they bring every day.

Joy, who has been our bookkeeper for more than 14 years, is the definition of dedication and character.
In recent years, my son Robert has taken on a leadership role at Kevco. He is now going on his eighth year working with us and brings the same drive and determination that built this company from the ground up. His vision and commitment to excellence are guiding Kevco into its next era.
I am incredibly proud to watch his journey and excited for Kevco’s future.
