Events in Mississippi Commemorating the Event:

August 11 th , 2018 MPHCA Statewide CHC Obesity Challenge – MPHCA and its 21 CHCs across the state host the central race, while other CHCs throughout the state host races, which include 5k and 10k races and a health fair at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in Jackson (7:30 am on 8/11/18) more info. Check individual CHC web sites for local race information.

August 13, 2018 - Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative, (SEMRHI) Inc. will be hosting a Free Check-Up Day at all clinic sites. Providing Free screenings: Blood Pressure, Glucose, BMI, Dental, Vision, Clinical Breast Examinations, Prostate Examinations, and HIV Testing.

Health Centers Now have an extended deadline
August 14 th , 2018 to opt-in for new NHSC Funding
An additional $105 Million will be made available this year from the National Health Service Corp in N HSC Loan Repayment Program awards that expand and improve access to quality opioid and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment in rural and underserved areas. You are eligible to opt in if your site provides any of these services:
  • Opioid treatment program. Facilities certified by SAMHSA
  • Office-based opioid treatment. Outpatient facilities with providers eligible to administer Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
  • Non-opioid outpatient SUD treatment facilities. Outpatient facilities that offer SUD treatment services (but do not provide MAT), as demonstrated on their website or other organizational materials.
All NHSC sites must opt in for your providers to be eligible for the additional SUD treatment funding. HRSA has extended the deadline to opt in to Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 11:59 pm ET. More information can be found here .

CMS [PROPOSES] changes to the MSSP quality measure set to reduce the total measure set from 31 measures to 24 measures:

Aligning the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organization (ACO) with the Meaningful Use Measures Initiative

Comment period open through September 10, 2018
Recently, 98 percent of Medicare Shared Savings Program ACOs successfully reported quality measures for the 2017 performance period. CMS is proposing..... more information .

HRSA/BPHC and The Joint Commission are helping promote the advancement of quality improvement efforts for federally qualified health centers and will be hosting a community health center webinar on July 31, 2018 at 1:00 pm specific to FQHCs .
