Education Background:
I majored in history and French at St. Olaf College. I have an MA in French Studies from NYU and my MSLIS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
What was your professional background before your current position?
I have worked at academic and public libraries. I was a library assistant at Loyola Chicago before I got my MSLIS, then worked in public libraries in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I was most recently the social sciences librarian at the University of Texas at Tyler.
Describe your current position:
I am the Outreach and Assessment Librarian at SUNY Delhi.
What do you like best about your work?
I like working with students and hearing about the topics and projects that interest them.
What has been your biggest professional challenge?
Probably the fact that many people don't actually know what librarians do and what libraries can offer.
How are you seeing issues of diversity, equity and inclusion play a more prominent role in your work environment?
I want the library to feel available to every potential patron regardless of their background or personal experience of libraries in the past.
What other organizations are you involved with?
ALA and RUSA. I'm also looking for a book club!
What is one thing you would you like to learn?
I'm looking forward to learning more about assessment.
What are you most looking forward to doing this fall?
Moving into my new house!!
