Katie Grogan-Poulos is one of our newest members. Katie’s flowers fill our tables quite often, most recently with the cutest spring bouquets for our March meeting.
Katie has worked for Alfa Flower Shop, a family-owned retail florist located on North Avenue in Wauwatosa, her whole life! She started working in the flower shop throughout her childhood and during college; eventually, it became her career. Alfa Flower Shop is a family-owned business, one she grew up in and fell in love with. Her “holy grail” of work and life are her children and husband, which somehow seems fitting for someone working in a family-owned company. Katie loves to make people smile with the beautiful arrangements Alfa Flowers creates. Katie’s father, now retired, ran the business prior to Katie and she loves that her father built the business up and now it’s her turn to continue what he started. Her father has taught her a lot about the industry which, she feels, has greatly contributed to her success.
So what brings Katie to EWI? Katie loves that we are an all-women’s group. Rachel Adas was her first contact; Harder Funeral Homes has done quite a bit of business with Alfa Flower. We hope Katie sticks around and enjoys joining a few of our wonderful committees so she can contribute her considerable expertise!
Fun Facts:
Katie loves to pick apples in the fall (it’s her favorite season, after all), with climbing trees being one of the highlights of that activity. She would love to venture out in a Cadillac Escalade with her miniature dachshund, Bella, and two daughters. The two websites you can find Katie surfing are her kids’ school website and shopping on Amazon. Pink is her favorite color and always has been. Something that many people don’t know? She has 3 tattoos. One of her goals or passions that drives her to be better: remaining happy and working towards bettering herself and the business. She has a bottle of Hoisin sauce hiding at the back of her fridge. Katie loves good competition, as it inspires her to better herself. “The Help” impacted her greatly and she thinks that there are certain marketing strategies that are risks worth taking. Her most recent adventure is one to die for, snorkeling in the Dominican Republic. Sounds wonderful! She kisses her two daughters good night and good morning every day. One of Katie's goals she'd like to accomplish this month is to be able to get some more sleep this month (we wish her luck in that endeavor!).
Thank you for sharing with us Katie, we certainly look forward to getting to know you more!!!
