Member Spotlight: Regina Taylor
Regina Taylor, one of our newest members, has shared some insight on her life. Regina joined last month, and we are so excited to have her part of EWI Milwaukee!!!

Regina joined Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in January of 2017 and loves coming to work. She shared that MCW believes the only way to build a healthier world is to build it together. They employ a diverse group of thought leaders in science, medicine, education and community engagement. The core of everything done is academic medicine, bringing together scientists, physicians, students and community members to solve challenges in health and society. Every study conducted or patient seen leads to new learning and a continuous cycle of life-changing knowledge.

Regina discovered, after serving as a manager for a period of her life, she wanted to “take a small step back and go back to my passion of offering support”.  She enjoys assisting and empowering others and loves going to work and being a part of an organization that is one of the catalysts for Innovation and Inspiration in Milwaukee. She is always looking for inspiration and the ability to grow and develop at work. She states “without this, I become stifled”.

Like many of us, Regina understands how her role fits into the larger scheme of things. To her, the most rewarding part about what she doe,s is being a piece of the puzzle that is making Milwaukee one of the healthiest communities. She loves being actively involved with MCW Community Engagement and having freedom to attend workshops, classes and seminars both internally and externally.

Regina provides support to two SVP’s, Gregory M. Wesley, Senior VP of Strategic Alliances and Business Development (1 ½ years); and Kurt Janavitz, Senior VP of Healthcare Partnerships and Strategy (1 year). Between the two SVP’s she admires each one’s unique characteristics of calm approaches, community efforts, drive, willingness to teach as well as learn, persistence in ensuring the very best outcome for MCW. Although handling two different divisions was a nerve wrecking thought, all three work very well together, making it seamless. “I call it the information exchange, as we learn from each other”.

Since 2007 Regina has served on several committees/boards including Sunshine Committee, Board of Directors for Young Minds Preparatory School and her current service as the Community Engagement Liaison for MCW.

Regina was introduced to EWI in February of 2018 by Sue Cota and Aileen Rogers. Both gleamed of enthusiasm and it gained Regina’s interest. She worked with her manager, researching EWI, and determined this was a good fit for her. She shares, “I would like to learn from the dynamic women I can relate to”.

Now let’s get personal! It wouldn’t be us if we didn’t ask the fun questions of tree climbing, dream cars, and season preferences, but Regina brings a bit of humor to EWI as she notes that the movie title best describing her life would be Mama Mia. She visits Amazon.Com the most (wonder what for) and has two little dogs, Riley and Layla. She has three children (her greatest inspiration), her son Terence (26) and daughters C’Aira (25) and Calviana (19). She has one granddaughter, Miss Izabella who just turned 1 (whom she Facetimes almost every day)! Regina's favorite color is green. She says, "it makes me feel at peace when I see green and in Spring and Summer it is all around me." Regina loves to be outside, especially in the summer so she can feel the sun on her face. How could you not love being outside to enjoy long walks, going to the lake and enjoying the sun and breeze.

Regina shared that she likes to be in the moment, offering assistance to anyone and anywhere. She loves people and is constantly looking for ways to enrich lives. “I feel like we all have gifts from God that we can share with others, and not sharing would be a disservice to both us and the world”.

Regina’s latest adventure was two years ago, her children took her to Chicago (Navy Pier) for Mother’s Day. They walked the city streets, admiring all the buildings and stopping at stores along the way. She enjoyed lunch at Navy Pier, giggling, taking pictures, and topping the day off with a city bus back to their car.  “Seeing the look on their faces, when they experience something for the first time is priceless”.

Welcome Regina and thank you for sharing with us. We hope you get that basement tackled; boy do I know the feeling of pushing projects on and on and on…and on. The weather is beautiful, how can you stay inside! Good luck!
