GAR and GMLS Members,

There have been a number of updates you should be aware of:

1) On Monday, Governor Lamont issued Executive Order 7Q regarding Remote Notarization which among other things temporarily removes the two person witness requirement, except for wills.  The Connecticut Association of REALTORS® worked with several industry groups/partners on these important changes to help keep real estate transactions moving forward. 

This update will be addressed in the virtual information session for GAR Members this Friday, April 3rd at 10AM . Margaret Conboy of Whitman Breed, and Josh Luksberg of First American Title will discuss how closings in Greenwich are moving forward amid COVID-19 restrictions.

2) Last week, the CT Fair Housing Center addressed anti-discrimination concerns related to COVID-19 . This anti-discrimination organization spelled out the Federal and State protected classes of national origin and disability. 

3) FEMA extended the grace period for Flood Insurance Renewal Premiums . This is important information to pass on to your clients who may not have heard this from another source.

4) The Small Business Administration has launched a COVID-19 Guidance and Loan Resource site .

5) The National Association of REALTORS® is putting members first with the Right Tools, Right Now initiative. This resource makes new and existing NAR products and services available to members for FREE or at significant discounts.

Lastly, CT Real Estate license renewals and continuing education requirement deadlines are rapidly approaching. The Department of Consumer Protection confirmed that they will NOT be extending the CE deadline for Brokers or Salespersons due to coronavirus. Brokers must renew their license and complete their continuing education by Tuesday, March 31st; Salespersons must do the same by Sunday, May 31st.
