| | Skills Manitoba Competition at RRC Polytech | |
The Skills Manitoba Competition, held on April 9, 2026 at Red River College, brought together high school, post‑secondary, and apprentice students to take part in hands‑on challenges that reflect real‑world trades and technology careers.
Built on a commitment to rewarding excellence, engaging industry experts, and keeping training aligned with employer needs, the competition featured more than 500 students participating in various skilled trades and technology contests across different industry sectors, supported by an equally dedicated group of volunteers.
This year, MMDA was proud to support and participate in the event, helping showcase the importance of skilled trades in Manitoba’s economic and community growth. Our involvement provided an opportunity to connect with emerging talent, highlight career pathways within our sector, and contribute to an environment that encourages skill development, confidence, and innovation.
Events like this strengthen the future workforce and reinforce MMDA’s commitment to supporting education, industry collaboration, and the next generation of skilled professionals.

| Used Vehicle Market Update: What Dealers Need to Know | | |
The latest insights from CARFAX Canada point to a market that’s starting to stabilize as we move into the spring selling season. Inventory is building, pricing is levelling out, and buyer preferences continue to shift in meaningful ways.
Nationally, the average used vehicle listing price reached $31,907 in March, showing modest monthly growth while trending slightly down year over year. At the same time, inventory saw a significant jump, signalling improved supply heading into a busy sales period.
What stands out is the continued dominance of SUVs, now making up over half of all used vehicle inventory. Passenger vehicles are losing ground, both in availability and pricing, as more consumers lean toward larger, utility-focused options.
The EV segment remains one to watch. Prices are down year over year and market conditions continue to shift, influenced by new programs and evolving supply dynamics.
For dealers, the takeaway is simple: the market is finding its balance, but buyer behaviour is evolving. Inventory strategy and pricing decisions will matter more than ever in the months ahead.
